Freshman year, "Whoo! High school!"
Sophomore year, "High school isn't all it's cracked up to be."
Junior year, "No, I don't know what I want to do yet."
Senior year, "It's only (insert number of days) until it's done."
Beginning high school, graduation seemed like a it was a mythical thing. There was the facade that we'd be here for the next four years...which in our minds seemed like forever. Departure didn't seem like something that would happen. It's high school; some never let it end. Those that do end it, make it.

to reality and graduation is actually four days away. It's real and we've made it here.
Through the four years....
Best friends became acquaintances.
Shy became bold.
Scared became prepared.
Quiet became loud.
Mute became outspoken.
Secular became Spirit-filled.
Ideas changed.
Outlooks changed.
Faces changed.
People changed.
75 became 55.
2008 became 2012.
Four years became four days.
The end became real.
We've been together since we started school at age 3 or 4 - depending on birthday cut-off - and spent about 8 hours a day from mid August to late May.
Here's some calculation:8 hrs from ages 4-18 with about 288 school days
8 * 288 = 2,304
2,304 * 14 yrs = 32,256 hours
That's an extremely rough guesstimate but, you get the picture. I didn't calculate all holidays, days off, snow days, etc...that's impossible without proper calendars and all the hoo haw. I love math but not that much. We've spent that much time with people we might never see again...

So in four years, we lost 20 people. That's five people a year.
Another statistic. They've moved, started their career, or switched schools entirely.
We will be childishly hopeful and blind. Yeah, we'll make it someday.
